At last, the dog-days of August

Just a few days ago it was so chilly, our heating system tried to go on and a safety valve opened and leaked some water. That way we knew we had a problem and got the repair people over before the real heating season. We're going to need some plumbing work done. But the point is that it's August and the heat was trying to go on. Today, however, the temperature is in the 30s C. (somewhere in the 90s F.). The sun is out and the sky is blue. Last week we had torrential rain for a couple of days.
We have been doing nothing much. Not bored. I've been reading and catching up on recorded TV shows. I was tempted to paint or continue scanning the letters but my arm was hurting from the tendonitis and I didn't bother making it worse. I had an "infiltration" -- a cortisone injection, I think. It's done under local anesthesia and under guidance from the x-ray. That was yesterday and my arm really hurt until I went to bed. This morning -- it's wonderful!
Louis and Gwen had us over for dinner with Gwen's parents yesterday and tomorrow they are all coming over here for lunch. I made a cheesecake for dessert and I put some spare ribs in marinade. Louis had said he'll take care of the barbecue. So, that's tomorrow.
Next week, Claire and Geoff come with the girls for a very short stop on their way home.
